Food Animal Diarrhea Panel for Fecal Samples

• Aerobic bacterial culture for E. coli and Salmonella spp. Limit 2 susceptibilities per case.


• Anaerobic culture for C. perfringens.


• Cryptosporidial smears (bovine younger than 2 weeks)


• Fecal flotation (older than 3 weeks)


• PCR:

Calves: BVD 1 and 2, bovine coronavirus, rotavirus
Adult Cattle: BVD, BCV, Johne’s, Salmonella

Small Ruminants: Salmonella, BCV, Johne’s

Nursing Pigs: TGE, PEDV, Delta Coronavirus (PDCov), Rotavirus

Growing Pigs: TGE, PEDV, PDCov, Lawsonia intracellularis, Brachyspira spp., Salmonella spp.

Charge is for testing of up to three animals. Samples will be pooled for testing at the discretion of the pathologist.
Additional testing not listed will be an extra charge.

• Leak-proof containers
• Salmonella spp. suspect samples should be labeled “High Risk” on the submission form and primary container. Label the outside of the shipping container “Special Handling”.
