  • Live animal: nasal swab, conjunctival swab, blood
  • Dead animal: lungs, spleen, brain, bone marrow, CSF

  • EDTA (lavender tube) for blood
  • Leak-proof primary container for tissue
  • Red top tube for CSF
  • Swabs must be kept moist; use viral transport media or place swab in red top tube with 1-2 ml sterile saline.
  • Swabs from multiple sites can be combined in the same tube.
Special submission instructions
  • Tissue must be fresh, not in formalin.
  • Ship with cold packs.
