Sample type
  • Swabs: nasal, tracheal

  • Saliva/oral fluid sample for pigs (‘rope sample’)
Container
  • Leak-proof primary container for fluids and tissues.
  • Swabs must be kept moist; use viral transport media or place swab in red top tube with 1-2 ml sterile saline.
Special submission instructions
  • Tissue must be fresh, not in formalin.
  • Do not use wooden swabs. Do not send dry swab. Note that this is a federally regulated test. Inappropriately submitted samples will not be tested.
  • Ship all samples with cold packs/on ice.
