|Test Description||Antimicrobial (antibiotic) susceptibility testing is done on a pure
culture of an organism. Bacterial culture and isolation must be
performed first (at additional charge).
|Sample Type||Pure bacterial culture|
|Container||A culture can be submitted on an agar slant, sealed plate,
or on a swab with transport media. We can conduct
susceptibility testing on aerobic isolates derived from
submitted aerobic culture samples.
|Isolates submitted to the VMDL are re-isolated, checked
for purity, and identified before antimicrobial testing is done.
|Turnaround time||2-3 business days|
